Olioliva in Imperia

What to do

The 23rd edition of Olioliva, the event dedicated to olive oil that has created an important space for itself in the context of Italian agrifood events, is scheduled to take place in Imperia from 4 to 6 November. This year it will be more of a celebration “of the new oil”, given the climate change underway, which tends to bring harvesting times forward.

The venue that hosts Olioliva is in the centre of Oneglia, one of the two main towns that formed Imperia almost a hundred years ago (1923), which will once again be festively dressed, brightly lit and full of people for the occasion.

There will be lots of stands featuring companies, public bodies, and municipalities from inland Liguria, where visitors can enjoy discovering the olive groves, walking, and experiencing Nature. A world of dry-stone walls and silver olive trees awaits those who wish to complete their visit to Olioliva. First you see, you experience and then you buy and learn. There is so much more than just taste, with a whole history of centuries of work, of caring for the land.

Olioliva is also a fantastic opportunity for cultural as well as business meetings. There will be moments of reflection, for sharing experiences in the field of agriculture and tourism. We are talking about situations that are becoming increasingly close, because the growth of outdoor tourism and experiencing the essence of places to the full is becoming more and more important, driven particularly by foreign visitors who clearly understand the real potential of these uncontaminated, sometimes almost unknown places.

In short, with Olioliva both Imperia and the Riviera reveal themselves in all their beauty, which is particularly evident in autumn. The discovery of Ligurian products of excellence, first and foremost oil, which, in this area, means the Taggiasca cultivar of olives in brine and Riviera Ligure DOP extra virgin olive oil, usually accompanied by Basilico Genovese DOP basil (which means pesto) and with a significant space for the wines of Liguria, increasingly appreciated on the international market.

In short, oil, olives, olive trees, and more…
