The seabed of Cape Ampelio

Sea & Land

A book to narrate the beauty of the seabed of Cape Ampelio. An actual guide with photographs of the sixty fish species which populate the 300 metres of the protected area. Entirely conceived and created by two brothers from Bordighera with a passion for diving. Matteo and Paolo Bredy Mastorakis have always been connected to the sea and to that beautiful and romantic cape where their parents have been managing the “Amarea” bathing establishment for years.

It all began with a simple school research which Roberta Roggeri, the science professor at the Liceo Aprosio in Ventimiglia, assigned to the two students and which, thanks to the skills of Paolo and Matteo, became a project which even achieved the Italia Pavilion at Expo, as an absolute excellence from Bordighera. During the summer the two brothers dived, photographing, mapping and monitoring fish. In this way, they discovered more than 60 species and flagged those close to extinction. This gave birth to the idea of collecting all the information in their possession for a book which obtained the collaboration of the Province and the Liguria Region. A great example of tourism promotion for Bordighera, one of the least contaminated jewels of the western coast.
